You will serve as a Computer Network Defense (CND) Analyst supporting critical intelligence missions. In this role, you will monitor, detect, analyze, and respond to cyber threats and incidents affecting national security systems. You will collaborate closely with other analysts, engineers, and operators to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission-critical networks.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor network traffic, intrusion detection system alerts, firewall logs, and host system logs to identify suspicious or malicious activity.
- Analyze and triage security events to determine the severity, impact, and potential mitigations of cyber threats.
- Develop and document cyber threat reports, actionable intelligence, and recommended response actions for leadership and stakeholders.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and support penetration testing efforts to identify weaknesses in networks, systems, and applications.
- Collaborate with intelligence analysts, software engineers, and operators to support mission objectives and implement security improvements.
- Respond to incidents in real-time, applying cyber defense tools, techniques, and procedures to mitigate threats.
- Maintain knowledge of evolving cyber threats, attacker techniques, and defensive technologies.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in computer or information systems, network administration, and cybersecurity operations.
- Familiarity with security monitoring tools such as SIEM platforms, intrusion detection systems, endpoint detection and response tools, and network traffic analyzers (e.g., Wireshark).
- Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX) and network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, etc.).
- Ability to analyze complex datasets to identify anomalies and potential threats.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, policies, and best practices relevant to national security systems.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Knowledge of cloud security, containerized environments, and modern IT infrastructure.
- Understanding of cyber threat intelligence concepts and tools.
- Experience in penetration testing, red teaming, or vulnerability research.
- Familiarity with the Intelligence Community (IC) mission, reporting requirements, and classified environments.
Education/Experience:
- Degree in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Military training or equivalent coursework in cyber defense, network operations, or information security may satisfy education requirements.
- Relevant professional experience in cybersecurity operations, network defense, incident response, or threat analysis.
- Experience with national security systems or in an IC environment preferred.
Clearance:
TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
